White Witch

White Witch  Oil on panel, 6" x 6,"  SOLD
It's a lot of packing going on here. Still. I'm worried about Coco. That little gray animal doesn't like change, though I've been reading up on how to make the transition easier for him...  If you have a tip/experience on moving with a cat, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

  2. It is always a joy to see your cat paintings.
Lost my precious cat in a move. He went out the door one night when the wind came through our new home and blew the door open. The door was usually locked. My Cat had not yet been acclimated to the area outside our new home. Rain, thunder and a high wind must have lead him into unfamiliar territory. :-(

  3. The only tip I can say is wherever you put down the litter box, it has to stay there...cats hate their litter boxes being moved around...they get mad and leave you presents on your bed to let you know!! HA! Lovely painting and good luck!

  4. I also lost my cat in a move about four years ago when the cable tv guy left the door open at the new house. I was devastated. She was almost 20 years old and had lots of health problems but seemed happy despite them all. I scoured the new neighborhood and met everyone on the block that day, but nobody had seen her. That night my daughter took me to her home for dinner. I put a blanket she was familiar with, as well as some food and water on the porch in case she returned. It was dark when we got home, but pulling into my driveway my daughter suddenly said, "Is that her?" I saw these two gleaming eyes through the darkness (I had forgotten to turn on the porch light) and said, "I think it is her". I opened the car door with caution and went slowly up to the porch. She dashed underneath the porch. I sat down and waited, but talked to her. After about five minutes she came out and I was able to pick her up. I don't know when I've been so happy. Her whole life she'd been an indoor/but mostly outdoor cat, but was indoors after seizures had detached her retina and blinded her temporarily, so her vision was impaired. I think that's why she stuck close to home. I would take her out to smell the greenery and fresh air, but she didn't want to stay long. We were so close that I thought we could almost read each other's mind. I had to make the final decision for her on Memorial Day three years ago. I miss her all the time. On the subject of litter boxes, I moved her litter box several times. I do think she understood human speech because I would pick her up and take her to the new place, while talking to her, and put her in the box. She would paw around for a minute or so and then step out, and never seemed to miss the old spot.

    1. Jan, the same happened with Coco (16 years ago!? He old) At the time I was living in downtown San Pedro. He stayed gone about 48 hours, I finally found him hiding under a car not far away at all... I know that feeling, was so very happy and relieved!! Since I moved back to Ohio, he's been an indoor cat (unless we're on the back deck, then he hangs out with us as long as he can make the mad dash back in, should he get frightened!) Thank you for taking the time to comment, it's appreciated.

  5. I don't have moving tips, but I do have compliments for this white cat. It's gorgeous. The pink in the ears and around the eyes and nose is just beautiful. The whiskers are so graceful. The whispy fur in the shaddowy area is so pretty. Very, very nice.
